MongoDB CEO Departs to Join Meta, Stock Plummets

Odaily News: Database company MongoDB has announced that its President and CEO Chirantan "CJ" Desai has resigned from his position, effective immediately, to take on a senior executive role at Meta Platforms. The company's board of directors has reappointed Dev Ittycheria as interim President and CEO. He previously held both positions from 2014 to 2025.

The board has now initiated a search for Desai's permanent successor. Board Chairman Tom Killalea said in a statement: "MongoDB's business is strong, and Dev Ittycheria is the best person to serve as interim President and CEO. He knows the company well and has been serving as an actively engaged executive board member over the past year. He will step in immediately to ensure a smooth transition." Following the news, MongoDB's U.S. stock plunged 15% in pre-market trading.
