Block Joins x402 Foundation, Bringing Bitcoin Lightning Network to AI Agent Payments

Odaily reports that Bitcoin News posted on X that Block has joined the x402 Foundation and is providing Bitcoin Lightning Network support for x402, an open payment standard for AI agents. x402 embeds payments directly into HTTP, enabling AI agents to autonomously pay for goods, services, and other agent tools. Block stated that the Lightning Network is well-suited for the billions of instant, low-cost micropayments expected to be generated by the agent economy.
