European Central Bank's Pontes Officially Launches, Supporting Tokenized Asset Settlement in Central Bank Money
Odaily reports that according to an announcement from the European Central Bank, Pontes, the Eurosystem's tokenized asset settlement infrastructure, went live on September 21. It supports wholesale tokenized asset transactions settled in central bank money and integrates issuance, trading, settlement, and custody through DLT, enabling smart contract automation.
13 banks including Deutsche Bank, Banco Santander, Societe Generale, and the European Investment Bank, as well as 4 DLT operators including Clearstream, have been onboarded in the first batch; the infrastructure is planned to be fully completed by 2028.
