Odaily News: In response to a previous Wall Street Journal report that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde pressured the Greek Prime Minister to block Binance's MiCA license application, a Binance spokesperson said it would not comment on speculative reports and reiterated that it will seek long-term compliant operations under the EU's MiCA framework. The spokesperson said: "We will not comment on speculation. In Europe, Binance remains committed to long-term compliant operations under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation."

Previously, Binance applied for a MiCA license in Greece in January 2026. In mid-June, reports said the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) planned to reject the application, and Binance subsequently withdrew the application days before the July 1 MiCA deadline, saying it would turn to other EU member states to seek authorization.
