Solana slot time reduced to 250 milliseconds, block generation speed increased by nearly 17%

Odaily News: Solana has reduced its target slot time from 300 milliseconds to 250 milliseconds, increasing block generation speed by nearly 17%. The amount of computation and data that each slot can carry is reduced accordingly, while overall transaction processing capacity remains unchanged.

This adjustment shortens the epoch duration to approximately 30 hours and reduces the available time for offline signing and delayed approvals. A proposal to further reduce slot time to 200 milliseconds has not yet had its mainnet launch date determined. (CoinDesk)
