OpenAI President Brockman: AI "Slowdown" Should Focus on Frontier Models

Odaily: OpenAI President and co-founder Greg Brockman said on a podcast that if the pace of AI development is to be slowed, the scope should mainly be limited to frontier AI companies developing the most powerful models, and should not affect open-source models or individual hobby projects. He said that so-called "controlling the pace of development" mainly targets large supercomputers that require hundreds of billions of dollars in capital investment. Brockman also said that OpenAI has slowed the frequency of AI model training following the recent Hugging Face hack incident and has significantly adjusted its internal security processes. He also advocates managing the long-term development of AI through global coordination and international treaties, arguing that AI may in the future transcend the scope of individuals, companies, and even individual countries.
