Offchain Labs Co-founder: Robinhood Can Retain 90% of Gas Fees on Arbitrum, Choosing Arbitrum to Be a "Landlord, Not a Tenant"

2026-09-06 02:23

Odaily News: Offchain Labs co-founder Steven Goldfeder responded to Solana co-founder Toly's comments regarding Robinhood Chain fees, stating that under the Arbitrum architecture, Robinhood can retain 90% of gas fees; whereas if it had chosen Solana, Robinhood would not be able to earn any revenue from gas fees, and would also have to bear the costs itself if it subsidized transaction fees for users.

He stated that the reason Robinhood chose Arbitrum is precisely because they want to be a "landlord" rather than a "tenant."

Earlier, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko (Toly) posted on X platform that the 10% revenue share Robinhood Chain pays to Arbitrum is enough to cover approximately 4 times the Solana transaction fees over the same period. If that revenue were used to subsidize user transactions, Robinhood Chain could even offer users a completely gas-free experience.
