Full Shutdown: Router Protocol to Cease Operations by September 30, 2026 and Burn 303 Million ROUTE
Odaily News – Router Protocol announced that after more than four years of development, it has decided to gradually wind down operations and will be fully shut down by September 30, 2026. The team stated that over the past two years, Web3 liquidity has remained persistently scarce, the market's focus has shifted toward AI, enthusiasm for the cross-chain interoperability track has cooled, and bridge revenue has been insufficient to cover operating costs. Over the past year, the team explored multiple avenues including commercialization, licensing, and acquisition, but none yielded a sustainable solution. Router Protocol will permanently burn 303 million ROUTE tokens pending in its treasury and coordinate with centralized exchanges to delist ROUTE. Holders are advised to withdraw their tokens before the deadline according to each exchange's arrangements.
