Japanese and South Korean stock markets closed sharply lower on Wednesday, with South Korea's KOSPI index falling 3.99%

Odaily News Gate data shows that the Nikkei 225 index closed down 1,889.70 points, or 2.85%, at 64,325.64 points on Wednesday, September 2; South Korea's KOSPI index closed down 273.08 points, or 3.99%, at 6,562.72 points on Wednesday, September 2, with SK Hynix falling 4.7% and Samsung Electronics dropping about 4%.
