According to sources familiar with the matter, Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam is seeking to gain control of at least three oil fields in Venezuela. He is making moves through his co-founded investment firm Primavera and has visited Caracas multiple times, meeting with U.S. officials to explore investment opportunities in oil, natural gas, fintech, and digital payments. It is reported that the relevant oil fields are operated by Alvorada Heavy Industries and are located in the Boca, Guico, and Guara blocks of Venezuela's Orinoco Belt.
