Crypto market sees broad decline, Meme sector drops over 4%, BTC falls below $78,000
Odaily News, August 31 — According to SoSoValue data, the crypto market has pulled back following a streak of gains. The previously standout Meme sector fell 4.19% in 24 hours, with OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP) down 10.55%, Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) down 10.44%, and Pump.fun (PUMP) down 12.40% within the sector.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin (BTC) declined 0.44%, falling below $78,000, and Ethereum (ETH) dropped 1.61%, slipping below $2,500.
Across other sectors, the Layer 2 sector fell 0.04% in 24 hours, with Polygon (POL) down 7.98%, though Mantle (MNT) remained relatively resilient, gaining 5.84%. The CeFi sector declined 1.71%, with OKB (OKB) down 4.09%. The Layer 1 sector fell 1.97%, with Solana (SOL) down 3.35%. The PayFi sector dropped 2.10%, while Monero (XMR) rose 4.54% during intraday trading. The DeFi sector declined 2.26%, with Uniswap (UNI) bucking the trend to gain 9.31%.
The crypto sector indices, which reflect historical sector performance, show that the ssiMeme, ssiAI, and ssiNFT indices fell 4.42%, 3.29%, and 3.12%, respectively.
