美国独立社区银行家协会要求全面禁止稳定币奖励,称或致1.3万亿美元存款流出

2026-08-29 20:39

Odaily News: The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), representing approximately 5,000 community banks across the U.S., is opposing the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act). ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey stated that the "loophole" related to stablecoin rewards must be completely closed, and there is no room for compromise.

According to ICBA, stablecoins could cause $1.3 trillion in deposits to leave the banking system and reduce local lending by $850 billion. The association has prompted Republican Senators Josh Hawley and Jerry Moran to oppose the current version of the bill.

Rebeca Romero Rainey stated that there is no indication cryptocurrency would replace these deposits and reinvest them in local communities. She also criticized the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) report, "The Impact of a Stablecoin Yield Ban on Bank Lending," for downplaying banks' concerns about deposit outflows.

The Senate is scheduled to vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15; if it fails to secure support from at least 60 senators, the bill will not proceed to further consideration and may stall in the foreseeable future. (Bitcoin.com News)
