TRM Labs: AI Applications in Crypto Crime Up 40% Over the Past Year

Odaily News, TRM Labs' latest report reveals that artificial intelligence applications in crypto-related crime increased by 40% year-over-year over the past year, primarily driven by fraud activities. In the first half of 2026, there were 201 digital asset hacking incidents, setting a new all-time high. Approximately 75% of losses came from just 4% of incidents, while North Korea-related activities caused losses of approximately $600 million, accounting for 61% of losses in the first half of the year.
