韩国财长:将密切关注全球债券收益率上升的影响
Odaily News: South Korea's finance minister said on Friday that the country will closely monitor its treasury bond market amid rising long-term yields in major economies and growing economic uncertainty. Speaking at a meeting with financial officials, the finance minister noted, "Due to increased fiscal spending and uncertainties stemming from the Middle East situation, long-term treasury bond yields in major economies, including the United States, Japan, and Europe, have risen to their highest levels in decades." He stated, "The government will closely monitor the issuance and trading of treasury bonds and strive to reduce financing costs for businesses and households."
Additionally, he mentioned that the Korean won fell to 1,300 against the U.S. dollar for the first time this week, after previously dropping to around 1,550 in early July, a move attributed to South Korea's record current account surplus. However, he added that given geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and monetary policies of major economies, the exchange rate faces both positive and negative risks. "The government will remain vigilant and respond to market volatility," he said. (Yonhap)
