Odaily News: US investment banking giant Morgan Stanley further expanded its crypto asset exposure in the second quarter, with its holdings of BlackRock's IBIT increasing by more than 3 million shares.

According to the second-quarter 13F report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Morgan Stanley's IBIT holdings increased from 13.4 million shares to approximately 16.5 million shares, a quarter-over-quarter increase of about 23%. Although the market value of this position declined from approximately $667 million to $549 million due to the drop in Bitcoin's price during the quarter, the institution continued to increase its ETF holdings.

In addition to IBIT, Morgan Stanley also raised its stakes in multiple Bitcoin ETFs, including those from Grayscale Investments, Bitwise Asset Management, and Fidelity Investments, with its FBTC holdings growing by approximately 38%.

On the Ethereum ETF front, Morgan Stanley also expanded its presence, with its holdings of BlackRock's ETHA increasing by approximately 202% to 4.6 million shares, while its Grayscale Investments position grew by about 26% to 5.1 million shares.

Furthermore, Morgan Stanley disclosed for the first time in the second quarter that it holds approximately 2.57 million shares of its own Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), valued at around $43.3 million, and added new investments in Solana-related products from Grayscale Investments and Fidelity Investments.

In terms of crypto stocks, Morgan Stanley significantly increased its investment in stablecoin issuer Circle Internet Group, with holdings rising from approximately 1.46 million shares to 8.32 million shares. It also added positions in several Bitcoin mining companies and infrastructure firms, including Cipher Mining, Core Scientific, Hut 8, and Bitdeer Technologies.

However, Morgan Stanley also trimmed some crypto-related stock positions, including reducing its Coinbase stake by approximately 550,000 shares, significantly lowering its CleanSpark holdings, and exiting its Bitfarms investment. (Cointelegraph)
