In the current fiscal year ending September 30, the U.S. government's interest payments on its debt have already reached $1.17 trillion, a year-over-year increase of 15%. According to data from the U.S. Congress, U.S. debt actually increased by $2.25 trillion during the first year of Trump's second term; by July of this year, that figure had further risen to $3.16 trillion.
