Odaily News: Due to an anomaly in an RBF script that automatically increases transaction fees, a user paid a network fee of 1.60 BTC (approximately $102,800) in a single transaction, without transferring any BTC to the recipient. The transaction was included in block 962142 on the Bitcoin network on August 12. On-chain records show that the transaction had only one input totaling 160,343,885 satoshis, all of which was ultimately paid as transaction fees to miners, with an output amount of 0. The automated script increased the RBF fee once per second but had no upper limit set, causing the fee to gradually consume the entire input amount. The block was mined by SpiderPool, and this transaction contributed 88% of the block's total fee of approximately 1.82 BTC.
