BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF BITA Option Income of $344,800 Merely Offsets ~$1.2 Million in Crypto Asset Losses

Odaily News – Asset management firm BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (BITA) generated $344,800 in income from selling options during its first operating period, with $79,100 in realized gains and $265,800 in unrealized appreciation. The fund holds Bitcoin and the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT).

As of June 30, 2026, BITA's Bitcoin holdings showed an unrealized loss of $782,200, while its IBIT position recorded an unrealized loss of $417,600, totaling $1,199,800 in combined losses. Meanwhile, BITA's realized and unrealized gains from options amounted to $344,849, offsetting approximately 28.7% of those losses. After accounting for an additional $5,337 in net investment losses, the fund's operating activities ultimately reduced net assets by $860,335.

Furthermore, according to the filing, from the fund's initial asset purchases on June 9 to quarter-end, Bitcoin's price fell 4.43%, while IBIT declined 4.75%. From BITA's official public trading debut on June 12 through June 30, the fund posted a total return of -5.61%. (cryptoslate)
