Boltz Founder Exits, Anonymous Bitcoin Group Takes Over Suspended Swap Service

Odaily News: Bitcoin swap service provider Boltz announced on Wednesday that its original founder has immediately exited the project, and an anonymous group of "seasoned Bitcoin enthusiasts" has agreed to take over the suspended swap service. The new operators will provide funding and engineering resources and are currently investigating and fixing vulnerabilities. Boltz has not yet disclosed the group's name, with the goal of restoring swap functionality as soon as possible. The original founder no longer holds any formal or managerial position, and any future participation in open-source software development is purely voluntary. Boltz suspended its services on August 3, citing a continuous escalation in the frequency, intensity, and sophistication of AI-assisted attacks over several months, with multiple successful breaches causing company losses. However, since the service operates on a non-custodial model, user funds were never at risk. Boltz stated that the company is a self-funded startup with only five employees and lacks the resources to fend off such attacks over the long term.
