Cloudflare moves into the AI agent economy: Launching AI identity system and stablecoin wallet

Odaily News: Cloudflare has announced the launch of identity authentication tools and digital wallet services for AI agents, aiming to drive the development of "agentic commerce" and enable AI assistants to make online purchases and transactions on behalf of users.

Cloudflare's newly launched cloudflare.id will provide verifiable, permanent web identities for users' AI agents, allowing merchants to confirm whether an AI agent is operating on behalf of a real user. At the same time, the company also introduced a companion wallet service for storing payment funds that AI agents can use.

The wallet can be topped up via bank transfer, which converts the funds into a US dollar-pegged stablecoin. Users can authorize their AI agents to use the wallet to complete shopping payments.

To prevent AI agents from uncontrolled spending, Cloudflare Wallet offers security controls such as spending limits and merchant whitelists, enabling users to restrict the scope and amount of purchases agents can make.

Cloudflare believes that traditional HTML web pages are primarily designed for human users, while the internet in the AI era may adopt a more machine-friendly information structure, allowing agents to obtain information and complete transactions more efficiently. (Fortune)
