SK Hynix and Korean Union Hold Talks Over Bonus Dispute

Odaily News: SK Hynix and its Korean union representatives held the fifth round of bonus negotiations at the SK Hynix factory in Cheongju. The two sides remain divided over a lucrative bonus scheme. Last year, SK Hynix agreed to allocate 10% of its annual operating profit to employees. According to Reuters calculations, this translates to an average bonus of 779 million Korean won (approximately $547,127) per employee in 2026. In a notice to members, the union stated that management proposed paying more than half of the bonus in the form of shares, with restrictions on selling them within a certain period. The notice also indicated that the company hopes to adjust bonus payments in the event of losses. The union, however, said it will absolutely not accept any arrangement that exposes its members to stock price fluctuation risks. (Jin Shi)
