Insiders: OpenAI May Delay IPO to Next Year

Previously, OpenAI had hoped to complete its IPO before Anthropic. A week after Anthropic filed its listing application, OpenAI also submitted its IPO filing documents, but has not yet confirmed a specific timeline, stating that "it is still too early for an IPO," partly because certain strategic goals are easier to advance as a private company.

Additionally, multiple insiders said that in recent months, some of OpenAI's major investors have privately expressed concerns that the company is burning through cash too quickly, with revenue growth struggling to keep pace with spending. Other investors have chosen to diversify risk by also injecting capital into Anthropic as a hedge.
