US Senators Move to Tighten CLARITY Act Ethics Provisions, Targeting Trump's Crypto Business Ties
Odaily sources report that US Senators Thom Tillis and Ruben Gallego have reached a preliminary agreement on the ethics provisions within the CLARITY Act, although specific details have not yet been made public.
These provisions aim to restrict direct associations between senior government officials and cryptocurrency projects, primarily targeting the crypto business linked to former President Trump. Trump has reportedly agreed to accept the adjusted terms, with the White House labeling it "the most extensive ethics pledge in history."
However, the Democratic side argues that the proposal does not require substantial changes from Trump, and since the Department of Justice is led by his appointed officials, related enforcement would struggle to form an effective constraint.
The new proposal put forth by Tillis and Gallego still needs to secure support from the White House and sufficient Democratic backing to advance to the next stage of proceedings. (CoinDesk)
