U.S. Republican Senator Says Trump Likely Can't End Iran War in Short Term
Odaily, According to The Hill, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy stated on Sunday local time that it seems "unlikely" for Trump to end the Iran war quickly and suggested that Trump should seek a path toward peace from Congress. Cassidy said: "I do believe we need a more thorough national discussion on how to proceed. If the President can end this conflict quickly — which seems unlikely — but they still seem to guarantee it can be achieved. Well, that's also acceptable." Cassidy has been critical of Trump's handling of the war, particularly focusing on its impact on the cost of living. In May of this year, after failing to retain his Senate seat, Cassidy became one of four Republican senators to support advancing a war powers resolution requiring Trump to withdraw U.S. armed forces deployed within Iran.
