Odaily Planet Daily News Morgan Stanley strategists said in a report that recent data suggests the Federal Reserve will hold steady at its meeting in July and may keep interest rates unchanged for the remainder of this year. They wrote: "The Fed is losing patience with inflation remaining above target.
Inflation trends in the coming months will be crucial — we expect inflation to decline as anticipated, or else the Fed may shift to raising rates later this year." Currently, the money market has priced in expectations of the Fed raising rates nearly twice by the end of the year. However, a moderation in inflation could prompt the Fed to maintain rates this year, keeping the federal funds rate in the range of 3.50% to 3.75%.
