This agreement consolidates the Department of Defense's existing on-premise software licenses under a unified contract to reduce costs associated with fragmented procurement. Negotiated by the Department of the Navy, the agreement has a five-year base period and includes a five-year renewal option, covering the U.S. Department of Defense, the Coast Guard, and intelligence agencies. Previously, in May of this year, the Pentagon signed a similar software consolidation agreement with Microsoft valued at $96.9 billion over five years. (Reuters)
