Korean Public Questions Single-Stock Leveraged ETFs: 63.7% Believe Launch Was a "Wrong Decision"
Odaily reports that Korean polling agency Realmeter conducted a survey on July 22 among 504 adults aged 18 and over nationwide. The results show that the Korean public holds a clearly negative attitude toward the launch of single-stock leveraged ETFs. The survey revealed that 63.7% of respondents believe introducing single-stock leveraged ETFs was a "wrong decision," with 41.2% considering it "very wrong" and 22.5% saying it was "generally wrong." In comparison, 19.0% deemed the decision correct, while 17.4% answered "not sure."
Regarding the supplementary measures for single-stock leveraged ETFs announced by South Korea's financial regulatory authorities on the 16th, 59.2% of respondents deemed them "insufficient." Among potential further improvements, the highest level of support, at 24.1%, was for "limiting the number of daily trades allowed." This was followed by "significantly increasing basic margin requirements" (22.2%), "substantially raising minimum trading unit requirements" (21.5%), and "expanding mandatory investor education time" (10.6%).
