Hanmi Semiconductor plans to build a new factory in South Korea
Odaily reported that South Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper, citing an interview with Hanmi Semiconductor Chairman Kwak Dong-shin, reported that due to the anticipated supply shortage in AI semiconductor equipment starting next year, Hanmi Semiconductor is considering building its eighth production plant. Once completed, this plant will become the company's largest facility. Kwak Dong-shin expects that demand for semiconductor equipment will surpass supply starting next year. The planned eighth plant will be located next to the seventh plant currently under construction in Incheon.
Hanmi Semiconductor stated that as global chip makers expand their investments, the market demand for its thermal compression bonders and hybrid bonders is expected to grow rapidly. The company plans to establish Hanmi America subsidiary in San Jose, California by the end of 2026 to strengthen its technical support services. (Jin Shi)
