Sablier Labs Halts Active Development, Transitions to Maintenance Mode Until June 2028

Odaily Odaily reports that on-chain token distribution protocol Sablier Labs has announced a halt to active product development, transitioning to a maintenance mode that will last until June 2028. Existing user services remain unaffected; smart contracts will operate permanently on-chain, and the interface will ultimately become an open-source public good. Founder Paul Razvan Berg stated that usage and revenue saw a significant decline in Q1 2026, primarily due to the deteriorating crypto market causing clients to postpone launches, and AI-assisted coding substantially lowering the cost of replicating Sablier's products. The team explored directions such as locked NFTs and custom rollups, but these efforts were unsuccessful. The company believes there is no independent business opportunity at venture capital scale within the on-chain token distribution sector. Sablier has already transitioned its core smart contracts from the BUSL license to GPL ahead of schedule, achieving full open-source status.
