Iranian Officials Reveal Draft Memorandum Between Iran and U.S.: Iran Commits to Not Acquiring Nuclear Weapons and Reopening the Strait; U.S. to Unfreeze Assets and Waive Oil Sanctions
Odaily Odaily News: According to Reuters, senior Iranian officials stated that under a draft memorandum of understanding with the United States, Tehran has agreed to neither produce nor acquire nuclear weapons. In the draft memorandum, the U.S. agrees to allow Tehran to dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium within Iran, with specific mechanisms to be discussed over the next 60 days. According to the draft memorandum, the U.S. will waive oil sanctions against Iran for a specified period, allowing Iran to sell oil and generate revenue. Iran will immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels, while the U.S. will lift the maritime blockade. The U.S. has agreed to release $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets through methods including direct cash transfers, regional cooperation, and financial credit lines. (Jin Shi)
