香港证监会:香港持牌公司可继续为存量内地客户提供服务,但不能在内地境内提供
Odaily Planet Daily News, June 10 – The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) further interpreted the circular dated May 22. Question 9 in the circular's FAQ states that licensed Hong Kong firms can continue to open new accounts for Chinese mainland investors (i.e., investors using mainland Chinese resident ID cards and/or Chinese passports as identification documents), provided all account opening requirements are met.
The SFC clarified that licensed Hong Kong firms can continue to provide services to existing mainland Chinese clients, as long as such services are not provided within mainland China and they have complied with all relevant laws and regulatory requirements in Hong Kong and applicable jurisdictions. The SFC also noted the notice jointly issued by mainland Chinese authorities on May 22, 2026, stating that its relevant requirements also apply to activities of financial institutions in other jurisdictions (i.e., not limited to Hong Kong) when providing services to mainland Chinese investors.
