The Sandbox co-founder's wife survives attempted kidnapping in France; suspects arrested

Odaily Odaily reports that the wife of Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, survived an attempted kidnapping this week at their home in Villenoy, Seine-et-Marne, France. A suspect disguised as a courier approached, and when the victim opened the door, five hooded accomplices rushed in and attempted to forcefully shove her into a vehicle. A neighbor intervened upon hearing screams, causing the suspects to flee. Police later intercepted a ride-hailing car, arresting two suspects, Mateo V. and Walid H., and seizing fake handguns, zip ties, and masks.

Data from the French Central Directorate of the Judicial Police shows that since January 1, 2026, France has recorded 41 cases of kidnapping or attempted kidnapping related to cryptocurrency. Since 2023, a total of 135 cases have been recorded, accounting for nearly 80% of such incidents in Europe. (theblock)
