Market Analysis: Fed Officials Note Increasing Stability in the April Labor Market
Odaily News Market analysts note that one factor supporting a more hawkish outlook for the Federal Reserve is the improving signals from the labor market. At the Fed's March meeting, the latest data officials had in hand was the disappointing February jobs report. According to the March meeting minutes, many officials were concerned at the time that "labor market conditions appeared vulnerable to adverse shocks." However, according to the newly released April meeting minutes, by the April meeting, Fed officials had received the more optimistic March report, with most viewing the data as evidence of stabilization. Following the Fed's April meeting, the strong April jobs report released earlier this month provided further evidence that the labor market may be stabilizing. (Jin Ten)
