Iranian Foreign Minister reiterates distrust of the US, but still hopes to maintain ceasefire to preserve diplomatic space
Odaily Planet Daily News: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in New Delhi on Friday that Tehran has "no trust" in the United States and would only consider negotiations with Washington if it demonstrates "seriousness." Speaking during the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting, he said Iran is trying to maintain the current ceasefire to create room for diplomatic efforts. According to multiple media reports, Araghchi emphasized Iran's long-standing lack of trust in the US and noted that any communication under the current circumstances depends on whether the US displays a "serious and credible stance." He also stated that Iran still hopes to preserve opportunities for subsequent diplomatic engagement and de-escalation by maintaining the ceasefire. (Jin Shi)
