U.S. Officials: Trump Gathers Top Officials to Assess Potential Military Action Against Iran
Odaily Odaily News According to three U.S. officials, after negotiations with Iran reached an impasse on Sunday, Trump met with his national security team on Monday to discuss the next steps regarding the war with Iran, potentially including the resumption of military action. The officials stated that Trump hopes to reach an agreement to end the war. However, Iran has rejected many of his demands and refused to make meaningful concessions on its nuclear program, bringing military options back to the table.
Trump has recently made multiple public threats, stating that if diplomatic efforts fail, he would bomb Iran's infrastructure facilities. According to officials, one of the options under consideration is striking the 25% of targets that the U.S. military has identified but not yet hit. U.S. officials noted that Vice President Vance, U.S. Special Envoy Witkoff, Secretary of State Rubio, Defense Secretary Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and other senior officials are expected to attend the meeting on Iran.
