2026-05-09 05:17

According to Odaily Planet Daily, market rumors suggest that complaints about vehicle battery locking triggered regulatory attention, with 8 automakers being summoned for talks, 3 investigated for violations, and 2 withdrawing disputed upgrade packages while promising to restore performance. Subsequently, an AI-related post listed the names of the 8 automakers.

When contacted today for verification, BYD, Tesla, XPeng, Li Auto, NIO, Seres AITO, Zeekr (Geely), and GAC Aion all denied the claims. BYD, Tesla, XPeng, Li Auto, and GAC Aion have explicitly refuted the allegations. A Tesla representative stated that the company has not been summoned by regulators over battery locking issues, and all software updates undergo rigorous testing and filing. XPeng's legal department issued a statement saying: "After verification, our company has not recently received any so-called 'summons' mentioned in this false information, nor are we under investigation." Li Auto also denied the claims, stating that the company has not been summoned by regulators over battery locking issues. BYD officially stated: "Recently, rumors about BYD being 'summoned and investigated' have appeared online. These claims are completely false and baseless." GAC Aion also issued an official statement: "GAC Aion has never been summoned by relevant authorities over matters mentioned in this false information, nor is the company included in any list of enterprises under investigation."
