The United States Attorneys' Association and the National District Attorneys Association have sent a letter to the White House, requesting amendments to the developer provisions in the Clarity Act, including ensuring that developer guidelines "do not create, expand, or modify criminal liability under federal law." White House crypto advisor Patrick Witt responded that these revisions "are far from the administration's position" and suggested they "would not lead to a productive negotiation outcome." Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is pushing the White House to resolve the issue before a vote takes place. The Clarity Act also faces opposition from Democrats over Trump's crypto ethics provisions. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has yet to schedule a vote, having previously indicated that the bill is unlikely to pass before the August recess.
