Anthropic CEO: Some software companies will completely disappear, technical complexity is no longer a moat
Odaily Planet Daily News, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated yesterday at the company's event "The Briefing" that enterprises can no longer rely on "software complexity" as a moat to fend off competitors.
Dario explained: "If your moat is that 'our software is very complex and difficult to develop, only we can write it, and others cannot replicate it,' then this advantage is disappearing. As for the overall fate of today's SaaS companies, I believe it is still uncertain. But for individual companies, it is entirely possible for their market value to decline, go bankrupt, or even disappear completely, depending on how they respond to changes. Some existing companies will see very clearly... that these moats are disappearing, and they will transform rapidly, potentially even performing better than in the past. However, some companies will not take these changes seriously, will be caught off guard, and will ultimately face very bad outcomes."
