Trump details the security incident at the dinner gala, does not believe the shooting is related to the Iran conflict
Odaily Odaily reported that when answering questions from reporters, U.S. President Trump said that the unexpected incident that occurred at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner that day was "completely shocking." He heard a noise but thought it was a tray falling to the floor. "I was checking the situation," but his wife ducked faster, seemingly realizing what had happened quickly. Trump stated that he hoped to continue the dinner and promised to reschedule the dinner date as soon as possible. Trump said he had received no threat briefing before the dinner. Trump also mentioned previous assassination attempts against him and called on the American people to "resolve their differences." He also noted that bipartisan figures had condemned the incident that evening. Trump also expressed gratitude to members of the media, saying they "acted very responsibly in their coverage."
