Head of UAE's Largest Energy Company: Iran's Blockade of Strait is "Economic Extortion"
Odaily News The head of the UAE's largest energy company stated that Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and its cutting off of energy supplies from the Middle East constitute "global economic extortion." Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), posted on LinkedIn, stating that the de facto closure of this critical waterway is "a threat the world cannot tolerate." He said: "The world must act—together—to secure the free flow of energy and uphold economic stability." Al Jaber, who is also a minister in the UAE government, has been one of the most outspoken business leaders in the country criticizing Iran and calling for the reopening of the strait.
