Crypto Advocacy Group SWC Unveils 2026 Midterm Election Plan, Focusing on Key Swing States to Mobilize "Crypto Voters"
Odaily News: Stand With Crypto (SWC), a crypto advocacy group initiated by Coinbase, has announced its strategy for the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. The plan focuses on mobilizing "crypto voters" and prioritizing key districts in Ohio and Pennsylvania. SWC stated that other crucial battlegrounds for November 2026 include Iowa, Nevada, New York, and North Carolina, believing that the proportion of crypto voters in these areas could have a "potentially decisive impact." Among them, Ohio's 9th Congressional District and Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District are listed as top priorities due to the incumbent representatives' voting records on crypto policies being called into question.
SWC was established in 2023 with the aim of uniting crypto advocates globally. The organization claims that in 2024, approximately 270 "crypto-supportive" candidates were elected to congressional seats, many of whom will seek re-election in 2026. Its platform also aggregates candidates' stances on crypto policies, rating them based on public statements, voting records, and questionnaire responses. Furthermore, SWC cited research indicating that 74% of crypto asset holders are more inclined to support candidates who advocate for a clear regulatory framework, with 31% stating they are "significantly more likely" to support such candidates.
Industry funds are also beginning to engage in elections through Political Action Committees (PACs). For example, Protect Progress, an organization affiliated with Fairshake, spent $1.5 million opposing the re-election of Texas Representative Al Green. In Illinois, despite crypto lobbying funds supporting candidate Raja Krishnamoorthi, the Democratic Senate primary was won by Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton. Analysis suggests that the 2026 midterm elections may become a key test of the crypto industry's political influence, with progress on regulatory legislation and candidate positions potentially significantly impacting the election outcome.
