COSCO Shipping Resumes Booking for Gulf Countries, Vessels Temporarily Not Passing Through the Strait of Hormuz
Odaily News COSCO Shipping Lines previously issued a service notice: Starting today, new booking services (for standard containers) are resumed for the Middle East Gulf countries from the Far East to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq. Resuming shipments does not mean that COSCO Shipping's container vessels can pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Multiple COSCO Shipping personnel stated that vessels will temporarily not pass through the Strait. Instead, similar to CMA CGM's previous plan, containers will first be shipped by sea to Sohar Port in Oman on the eastern side of the Strait; and to Khor Fakkan Port, Fujairah Port in the UAE, as well as Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia. The containers will then be transported to these countries via land transshipment. (Caixin)
