U.S. CFTC Strengthens Oversight of Baseball Prediction Markets, Signs MOU with MLB
Odaily News: The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has officially announced the signing of its first-ever Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Major League Baseball (MLB). This agreement establishes a framework for information exchange and collaboration between the two parties in the area of prediction markets related to professional baseball. The MOU aims to enhance the protection of the integrity of professional baseball games and to foster cooperation in addressing potential risks within prediction markets, including the prevention of fraud, market manipulation, and other misconduct. Under the terms of the MOU, the parties will share information within the legal framework to enable swifter responses to related incidents and the early identification of emerging trends. CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig stated that this initiative will help improve the integrity and resilience of prediction markets and provide regulators with additional tools to protect market participants.
