Wintermute CEO: Ethereum Foundation is Key to Keeping the Cyberpunk Dream Alive, Will Continue to Hold ETH

Odaily News Wintermute CEO Evgeny Gaevoy posted on the X platform, stating that more people in the market are skeptical or taking a wait-and-see approach towards the actions of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), rather than celebrating them. However, he believes this is a sign of the times—most people find it difficult to spend time delving into official declarations or mission documents. He pointed out that EF is currently the only player with both resources and network effects capable of not only upholding the cyberpunk ethos but also potentially truly achieving this goal. In the short term, this may not directly drive up the price of Ethereum, but in the long run, if EF successfully achieves its self-defined goals, rather than being co-opted by traditional finance, it could have a positive impact.

Evgeny Gaevoy emphasized that what matters is driving this grand attempt, not just focusing on financial applications. He personally chooses to continue holding ETH, more out of cultural identification and community atmosphere than for investment returns. He acknowledges this is a "long-term, high-risk bet" but still believes this culture is much healthier than other "cults."
