Mainland Businessman Suffers Illegal Confinement and Extortion, Losing Cryptocurrency and Silver Worth Over 6 Million HKD
According to Hong Kong's TVB News, a mainland businessman reported being illegally confined and extorted, losing cryptocurrency and silver with a total value exceeding 6 million HKD. Police stated that the 25-year-old male victim, who claimed to be a businessman, had arranged to meet someone at a hotel in Hung Hom yesterday to discuss a silver business deal. During the meeting, he was assaulted by four mainland men who forced him to provide his cryptocurrency wallet password. Subsequently, cryptocurrency worth $680,000 was transferred away. The perpetrators then went to the victim's company and took away 42 kilograms of silver goods.
The victim was released and reported the incident to the police in the early hours of this morning. By the time police arrived at the hotel, the four mainland men had already left. The victim sustained injuries to his face, both arms, and calves. The case has been classified as illegal confinement and extortion and is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kowloon City Police District.
