Bessent: Temporarily Allows India to Purchase Russian Oil Stranded at Sea

Odaily News U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated that to ensure the continuous flow of oil into the global market, the Treasury Department issued a 30-day temporary exemption order to allow Indian refiners to purchase Russian oil. This temporary, short-term measure will not provide significant economic benefits to the Russian government, as it only approves transactions involving oil that is already stranded at sea. We firmly believe that India will increase its purchases of U.S. oil, and this temporary measure will alleviate pressure caused by Iran's attempts to hold global energy supplies hostage. (Jin10)
