Sam Altman: OpenAI to Collaborate with U.S. "Department of War," Deploying Models on Classified Networks
Odaily News: OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman stated on X that the company has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of War to deploy OpenAI models within its classified network environment.
According to the terms of the agreement, the relevant models must not be used for large-scale domestic surveillance scenarios, and it emphasizes that any applications involving the use of force (including potential autonomous weapon systems) must adhere to the principle of "human responsibility." OpenAI stated that it will build technical security safeguards for this deployment, with the models running only on cloud-based networks, and will dispatch Field Deployment Engineers (FDEs) to participate in model security assurance work.
OpenAI also mentioned that it has urged relevant departments to offer the same terms to other artificial intelligence companies, aiming to reduce legal and regulatory disputes through contractual agreements.
