Anthropic to Sue US Department of Defense
Odaily News Anthropic has vowed to challenge in court the US Department of Defense's decision to blacklist the company, which claims Anthropic refused to lift all restrictions on the military's use of its Claude model. The company also expressed being "deeply saddened" by the escalating dispute. This cutting-edge AI company is doing something few others have done since Trump's return to the White House: directly and publicly challenging the Trump administration.
Earlier on Friday, Trump and Defense Secretary Hagstes threatened to sever Anthropic's connections with numerous clients through a "supply chain risk" designation, a practice historically reserved for "foreign adversarial forces." Anthropic stated: "No amount of intimidation or punishment from the 'War Department' will change our stance on mass surveillance or fully autonomous weapons." "We will legally challenge any supply chain risk designation." (Jin10)
