Trump's "Peace Commission" Considers Issuing Gaza Stablecoin for Digital Payment System

2026-02-23 23:07

According to a report by the Financial Times, the "Board of Peace" led by U.S. President Trump is exploring the issuance of a dollar-pegged stablecoin to support a digital transaction system in the Gaza region. Informed sources indicate that this stablecoin would serve as "a way to enable Gaza residents to make digital payments."

Currently, the Gaza region is experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis, making access to cash extremely difficult. A large number of banking facilities and ATMs have been damaged or shut down, while new cash deliveries are restricted, leading local residents to increasingly rely on digital payment methods. The stablecoin proposal has been put forward against this backdrop, aiming to establish basic financial transaction infrastructure.

The project is being spearheaded by Israeli tech entrepreneur Liran Tancman in collaboration with institutions such as the "National Committee for the Administration of Gaza" (NCAG). Relevant sources stated that the plan not only includes the stablecoin but also involves building a "secure digital infrastructure" as an open platform to support electronic payments, financial services, online education, medical systems, and allow users to control their own data.
