Vitalik Responds to Ethereum "Slow Death" Remarks: Plans 4 Major Changes to Achieve System Upgrade
Odaily News Recently, community user dasha proposed a suggestion to "let the existing Ethereum gradually die through fragmentation (such as L2, appchains), and rebuild a pure cypherpunk chain from scratch based on RISC-V."
Vitalik Buterin responded by stating that he rejects letting the existing Ethereum "slowly die." Instead, he plans to build a "cypherpunk original, non-ugly Ethereum" as a tightly coupled extension of the current system, achieving seamless interoperability, and migrating the existing system via smart contracts within 5 years. Vitalik emphasized that through progressive upgrades similar to the previous "Merge" upgrade, followed by 4 major changes—including state tree optimization, Lean consensus, ZK-EVM verification, and VM changes—censorship resistance, ZK-friendliness, and simplicity can be enhanced.
